Craziness
Things have been busy! Corgan has been having some really bad nosebleeds and ear infections, so we went to the ENT on Tuesday and Dr. Bauer said he would like to get his adenoids removed, tubes put in his ears and his left nostril cauterized. And can we do it Friday? WHAT?!
So we (and I use that "we" term loosely) scrambled to get the funds together and schedules rearranged in order to have Corgan ready to go first thing Friday morning. Travis stayed home with Caiden while Corgan and I went to the Pediatric Surgery Center at 7:45 Friday morning.
The surgery went well, but Corgan really didn't like coming out of the anesthesia. He really cried and said, "It hurts!" and was really miserable. It BROKE my heart. I don't know how the nurses do it, listening to all these small children crying and hurting. When he was finally able to come home, he laid in the bed and slept for four hours. He threw up a couple of times, but all in all did ok.
Then, CAIDEN was up most of the night with a fever! AAAHHHH!!! Two sick kiddos at the same time?! Sheesh. Thankfully I had subbed out my Saturday classes so I was able to sleep in a little bit the next morning. Caiden kept a low grade fever going during the day and at night spiked to 103. On Sunday he seemed his normal self, but....
CORGAN started running a fever! He had two red splotches on his cheeks and really glassy eyes and looked pretty miserable. I took him to the doctor today and he has Fifth Disease, which is only contagious BEFORE the rash. Sorry everyone.
After we got home from the doctor, Corgan climbed up on the couch and fell asleep for an hour. Then, woke up, crawled into bed with me and Caiden and slept for another two hours. When he woke up, he laid in my bed and watched Iron Giant (his favorite).
It is so hard to watch your children be in pain. Whenever I ask Corgan if he's ok, he shakes his head and says, "No. I'm not bine." We don't quite have our "f's" down properly.
Oh, and I lost my camera. So, sorry folks. No pictures.

What a boy
Just look at those scrapes and bruises. He is such a little hellion, I mean, boy. The scratch by his nose is from wrestling with his brother. The bruise on his cheek is from who the heck knows. The bruise on his forehead is from climbing on the chair in the kitchen. The scratch on his ear is from him grabbing his ear in a fit of rage. Yes, he's a mess. But he's all mine!

One Tiny Piece...
Of chocolate. Seriously, it was tiny. But it sure went a looooong way! Look at his TOES!
"If you rub it in like this, it does WONDERS for your complexion..."
"... and man, does it taste good!!!"
"So, leave me alone so I can finish Veggie Tales, k?"
P.S. Sorry I haven't blogged in a while. I've been in a "funk". I'm still kinda in it, but decided to get over myself and post some pictures of sheer cuteness. Just cause I love ya. ;)

Caiden's Stats
Took Caiden to the doctor for his year well baby visit and here are his stats!
Weight - 20 lbs and 1 ounce - 10th Percentile
Height - 30 inches - 45th Percentile
Head - I don't know - 75th Percentile
He's long and skinny with a big head. He's a LOLLYPOP!!!!
New Things...
Caiden is really into books. He is so cute! He'll grab a book and walk up to you, put it in your lap and look at you with this hopeful, pleading smile and say, "Dis?"
He points at everything and says, "Dis." When he points with his left hand he points with his first and middle finger crossed. Only with his left. Weird.
He can sign and say:
Fish (Ish)
Drink (Dee)
Eat (eeet)
All Done (Ah Dah)
More (mah)
Daddy (Da)
Mommy (Da)
This (Dis)

And he has a little problem with snot.

Happy Happy Birthday, Caiden Dear!!!
Holy crap. I can't believe it's been an entire year since Caiden was born!!! Time really, truly does fly by. He is such a big boy! We had a birthday party for him on Saturday and he had a great time. We had the cutest Handy Manny birthday cake (I'll have pictures posted later...), family, friends and balloons. Caiden couldn't care less about opening presents! I was sitting there opening his gifts and getting so excited as he wandered aimlessly around the room. Sheesh. Kids.
I am so blessed to be a mommy. I have two very special little guys to take care of and love. They bring joy to my heart and laughter to my days
Caiden has the funniest little smile where he crinkles up his nose and looks like he smelled something really raunchy....

Aaaand we're off!!!!
So Caiden started walking last week. He'd been "taking steps" for a while, but now we are in the drunk and disorderly walking stage. ..
"You lookin' at me?"
"You lookin' at me?"
"I'm gonna getcha!!!"
"Or not."

Caiden is ELEVEN MONTHS OLD!!!! I really, truly cannot believe my baby is almost one year old. My goodness time flies! He has started walking and it is too funny to watch! He dances and claps, and has such an awesome personality. Or personalities. In the space of five minutes, I saw many different sides of Baby Caiden!
Serious Caiden....

Extreme Makeover
BEFORE
AFTER
Travis thought Caiden needed a haircut. I mean, yeah he had a bit of a mullet, but come on! So I buzzed his little head and couldn't tell a difference. Can you?

Blessings....
I just love this time of year. I was driving in my car, listening to some cheesy Christmas songs on the radio, feeling the bite of cold in the air and looking at all the beautiful Christmas lights when I felt a bit teary. I am so blessed. I have a loving husband, two amazing children, awesome friends, a warm home and a loving family. All too often I compare myself to others and find myself lacking. My home isn't decorated as nicely, or my car is a piece of crap, or I don't have stylish clothes. But you know what? Who the heck cares? In the grand scheme of things, that stuff really doesn't matter. So, when I'm feeling sorry for myself, I'm going to pull up these pictures....

... and count my blessings.

New Hat!
Mom was watching the boys the other day when she heard Corgan cracking up in the other room. She had a moment of panic when she realized she'd left the boys alone in the other room, leaving Corgan to torture his unassuming little brother. But, apparently Corgan had given his brother a lovely new hat to wear. Caiden didn't quite know what to think about this thing on his head, but Corgan found it quite amusing. He is so sweet to his brother!

Big Brother Worship
Caiden happens to think Corgan is amazing in every way. I tend to agree (for the most part...). Nobody can make Caiden laugh like Corgan can! The other day, Corgan had his little brother cracking up. All he was doing was crouching down on the kitchen floor and then popping up and saying, "Hi Baby Caiden!" Corgan's reward was Caiden's little machine gun laughter. I love it! Just look at those eyes. You can almost read Caiden's mind - "Corgan, you are soooooo cool!"

Like His Daddy....
Those of you who know Travis know that he has a bit of a problem. He can't keep his eyes open when you take his pictures... Now we all know Caiden is his daddy's little duplicate - I just didn't realize he had inherited his father's innate inability to be photographed... Sigh.

So sweet....
The other day I took Caiden to the pediatrician for his six month check up. Here are his stats:
Head 45th percentile
Length 50th percentile
Weight 10th percentile
Ok. This weight thing is really bugging me. I mean, babies are supposed to be little chunky buckets of dimples and rolls. But my little guy is, well, kinda skinny. I think I'm shooting out skim. Poor guy!!!
When Caiden had his shots, Corgan stood by looking at Caiden with this really concerned look on his face. After he was pricked I scooped Caiden up to comfort him and Corgan came running over, gave Caiden a big hug and said, "It's ok Baby Caiden. Corgan's here." Isn't that sweet?! What a good big brother. I'll have to remember these good moments when they're fighting over toys in a couple of years!

Six Months OLD!!!
Oh my goodness. Where has the time gone!? My baby is SIX MONTHS OLD!!! Here are a few of the things he has accomplished: Sitting independently
- CRAWLING (This blows me away! Corgan didn't crawl until he was 10 months old!)
- Says "Da da" and "zzshshth" Whatever that means.
- Does NOT LIKE FRUIT! Weird child.
- Eats lots of veggies. Loves anything orange and has a lovely orangy glow to his skin.
Just look at those fingers!!! What a mess!

Leap Frog...
Before Corgan was born, Travis, Mom and I went to Baby's R Us to buy all the baby essentials that we just HAD to have before the new arrival. Mom and I had picked out this play gym that had all these excited lights flashing and bells dinging and annoying sounds to stimulate the brain of a newborn. Or cause seizures. Whatever. Anyway, Travis saw this "educational" learning gym that taught things like counting in japanese or german, saying hello in french, and stuff like that, but didn't have a lot of "cool" features. Mom and I both thought, "BORING." But, Travis insisted and since Travis rarely insists on anything, I thought I'd throw him a bone and then laugh at him when the thing collected dust. Alas, I was mistaken. Not "wrong" mind you, just mistaken.
This toy has entertained for the two and a half years that we've had it! Corgan LOOOOVED it when he was a baby and actually kept him entertained during a twelve hour drive from Georgia to Texas. And I learned how to count to five in German, Japanese, French and Spanish. Added bonus! Now it is Caiden's most cherished toy. He will sit in his Bumbo and push the buttons and laugh and squeal while listening to the music. By far the best forty bucks we've EVER spent on these children!
