I'm such a slacker! I've been terrible about keeping my blog up. Things have been a tad hectic. I've been working in Paris quite a bit the past couple of weeks and Corgan was sick for TWO WEEKS! He's better now and has his appetite back. The other morning he woke up at 6 saying "EAT!!!!" Of course, it had to happen when I had had only three and a half hours of sleep the night before. I don't know what's going on, but I can't sleep at night!!!! Drives me crazy!
Travis's 32nd birthday was on Friday and we went out to eat with Aaron, Tammie and Jason at P.F. Changs. That place is so dang good. Mmmm.... Then we went to see Nacho Libre, which was pretty dang funny, but pretty dang stupid, too. We had a great time! Tammie and Aaron watched Corgan while we went to the movie, which was really nice.
Well, tomorrow we have a VERY full day ahead of us. Corgan has Gymboree, then we're having our carpet cleaned, then we go to one of my friend's baby's 1st birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese, then I teach a class, then it's YW's. I'm tired just thinking about it!!!!

Father's Day "Fun"
Today was interesting to say the least. Corgan was really not doing well this morning and we couldn't get his fever down so I finally had had enough and took him to the ER. Why is it that kids ALWAYS get sick on the weekends? We went to the hospital across the street (how convenient is that?!) and got right through. I guess not many people have emergencies on a beautiful Sunday morning that just so happens to be Father's Day. Corgan's fever was 102.1, and that was AFTER having a full dose of Tylenol about an hour before. Poor little guy! You could just tell he felt crappy. The doctor and nurses were all really really nice and thorough. Corgan has "nasopharyngitis" which means a sore throat and swollen glands. They checked his urine to make sure he wasn't dehydrated and THAT was a lot of fun. Ugh. Travis and I had to hold him down while two nurses did a catheter. Poor guy. He was being poked and prodded in every orifice in his body. The last time the nurse came in to check his temp he started screaming. I don't think he likes nurses so much any more....

After about four hours at the hospital we finally got the green light to come home. I was so grateful that they didn't have to give him an IV to get him hydrated. He's been drinking a lot better this afternoon and evening and has even eaten a little bit! He's on an antibiotic and prescription Motrin so hopefully he'll be better soon. When we got home he put a bowl on his head and was running around the house, so I think he'll make it!
He took a nap this afternoon and when he woke up he was miserable again. If we can just keep his fever down I think he'll be fine. I'm going to call his pediatrician tomorrow and let them know we went to the ER yesterday and see if they want to check him out. The more people that look him over the better!
I was supposed to go to Paris to work tomorrow, but we'll see how Corgan's feeling. I'll probably just let him sleep in and then head over there later in the day. Travis is going to be out of town until Wednesday evening since he's flying to Stamford for work.
That pretty much sums up our crazy Father's Day Adventure!!! Hopefully next year will be more fun and less eventful!

Still feeling yucky...

Well, Corgan is still not feeling too peachy. Today he ran a fever of a bit over 101 and was real lethargic and just puny. He wanted to be held all day long or at least sit next to me or Travis. I feel so bad for him! He's just not himself and it worries me. I called the doctor's office and they said that these bugs can last about two weeks.... not fun. I'm supposed to go to Paris to work on Monday and we really need the money. Hopefully he'll be better by Monday!
I got up at the butt crack of dawn this morning to teach a class. About fifteen minutes into the class the battery in my mic went dead and I didn't have any spares! It was a pretty big class, about twenty or so people, so I turned the music down a little bit and used my skills of being a loud mouth to get me through the end of class! I told them that my husband always complains that I'm too loud, but that I was going to tell him that it came in handy today! Several people came up to me after class and told me they really enjoyed my class! I don't know why it took me so long to start teaching! I've been thinking about it and talking about doing it for about six years and finally got the nerve! It's a BLAST!!!!!!
After my class I drove to my sister-in-law's baby shower. She's going to have Eric Christian on July 25th and is soooo ready! They are doing an airplane theme in his room and it's really cute! She got a lot of good stuff. I can't wait until he gets here! Corgan needs another cousin to play with!

Is it Friday yet?!

Wow. This has been a full week! Corgan has been sick since Monday and is still having some really interesting diapers. Ick. He hasn't had much of an appetite, so last night Corgan was begging Travis to eat some of his food, which just so happened to be a CHILI CHEESE DOG. Hello?! Number one, why on earth would you give a chili cheese dog to a baby and number two, why on earth would you give it to a child that already has tummy trouble?! Needless to say, today was pretty stinky. Several nasty diapers and powerful toots later I think we've gotten over the hump. I hope he's better tomorrow.
I taught another class on Wednesday and had the best time! There were about 35 people in this class and it is so much easier to teach larger classes. In the middle of class I was looking around the room and saw a girl wearing a HUGOTON shirt. In the middle of class I ask, "Is that a Hugoton Kansas shirt?" The girl looks at me funny and nods her head. I said, "That's where my husband grew up!" After class I went up to her and asked when she graduated (2002) and found out that she knew the Spikes' and was in the same class as Allison!!! (BTW, Allie, her name is Andrea Hershey and she said to tell you hi) It truly is a small world!!!
I was supposed to go to Paris today to work, but since Corgan is feeling yucky we stayed home. We did make a quick run to Target to get Father's Day presents and we got a book of animals for Corgan. He loves the rooster and points to it going, "Doo Doo Doo!!!" He's such a nut!

Girls Camp, Work and Sickness....
Girls camp was suprisingly fun! Hotter than hades, but fun! The girls in my ward are AWESOME. We didn't have any of the drama, there were no cliques, everyone got along great! I was so proud of them!!!! We had the ghetto cabin, but still had air conditioner, a full sized fridge, microwave and plumbing. That's my idea of roughing it! We didn't have ANY hot water, but in 100 plus degree weather, that was actually a nicety! We had a lot of outdoor activities, but I got a bucket of water dumped on me, so it was doable. Those dang YCLs!!! The food was... well... let's just say I made a few trips to McDonalds. I came home early because two nights away from Corgan was way more than enough for both of us. He was sooo good for my mom. He just loves her to bits! When I got home Friday morning he was asleep so I just snuggled with him for a minute then took a nice nap. I woke up to Corgan saying, "MAMA!!!! (which sounded more like "NAHNAH" but I knew what he meant)" and him wrapping his arms around my neck. I tell you what, there is nothing better than slobbery kisses from your baby. My mom helped Corgan make the CUTEST card! She traced the outline of his hands and "helped" him write "I love Mommy" on the front. I'm going to have it framed!!!!
The next day I drove to Paris with Mom to work in the clinic. I was kind of frustrated because I had to miss out on going to Travis's company picnic, but I'd already told Dad I would work that one Saturday a month so he was counting on me. Travis and Corgan went to the picnic and it wore him out! He rode a horse, had his hand painted, had a caricature done and played all kinds of games. He took like a four and a half hour nap!
Sunday we went to church and I got a new calling as First Counselor in the Young Women's Presidency. The President we had is moving so we got a whole new presidency. I'm the only one that was in there before. I think we have a really great group. Susan Sampson is the president and she is awesome! I can't wait to get to know her and the other ladies better.
Corgan was acting fussy at church and afterward he went down for a nap and fell off the bed, hitting his head on the radio (I think....) and boy did it freak us out. He was laying right next to me and rolled right off the bed. He cried for about fifteen minutes and we really couldn't calm him down so we called the doctor and they said that as long as he wasn't unconcious or vomiting, then he was probably ok. We had to do neurological tests on him every two hours to make sure he could move all his extremities. At our 12:30 am check, I felt him and he was burning up. I checked his temp and it was 103. He was soooo hot. I gave him some Motrin and he slept with us (in the middle so he couldn't fall off....) and this morning he acted fine. I took him to the gym to go to the Kid's Club while I taught my class and afterward he acted soooo tired and took about an hour nap, waking up with another fever of a little over 100. I called the doctor (I swear they know my voice by now) and took him in. They think he has a viral infection and basically said to try to keep him hydrated and medicated. We had Terry Jetton come over and assist Travis in giving him a blessing. Hopefully he'll be better tomorrow. We have a busy day ahead of us! He has speech therapy and ECI! I'll keep you all posted....

Whew....
Boy what a great day! Danielle and I went to Grapevine Mills Mall to meet Mom, Chrissy and Emily there. Mom is going to stay with Corgan during the day while I'm at YW Camp. We had lunch at Chili's and then shopped like crazy! It was a lot of fun!!! The babies did a really good job and behaved themselves very well. We all rode on the carousel and Nana bought Corgan a hat that he wore all day. When we were ready to leave, I discovered I had lost my keys. I was so frustrated and dumped my diaper bag all over the parking lot and combed through the car in 100 degree weather. Mom, Danielle, and I went back into the mall where Mom watched the boys while Danielle and I power walked around the mall (which is a mile long) going into stores to see if anyone had turned in my keys. Danielle was so sweet and really calmed me down. I had said a prayer and she kept saying, "I know you're going to find them. I'm not even worried." So we see these security guards and I thought we'd ask them. I asked the guy if anyone had turned any keys in and he says, "Are they to a Ford? Do they have a remote on them? Never seen em." I flipped out! They had my keys! I gave the guy a big hug (probably the most action he's seen in a long while) and we got my keys. I was sure worn out from trekking all over that mall!!!!
Well, tomorrow I'm off to YW Camp and I am NOT looking forward to it AT ALL. It's freaking hot outside and I've never been away from my little guy and I'm kinda anxious about that. I know he's in great hands with my mom, but I'm really going to miss him!!! I'll probably have a lot of fun. We shall see. I'll report back afterwards!

Yawn...
Today was a good day! Corgan and I hung out with my friend Danielle and her cutie pie Evan. We went to the LDS Bookstore where Corgan proceeded to tear the entire store apart, but I did succeed in getting a cd rom to help us with FHE. We really need to get that started now in order to get into the habit. Afterward we went to the Corner Bakery for some yummy food. Corgan flung food across the dining room (and truth be told, I accidentally did too... almost whacking a woman in the head). We had a fun time!
Corgan failed to take a nap this afternoon despite numerous attempts by his frazzled mother. He kept trying to play with his rock n' roll Ernie that I accidentally (I SWEAR IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!!!!) killed by flinging him across the living room. It's 11:30 and the little guy still won't go to sleep, he keeps trying to get "E E" to play music. So, I just hopped on Ebay and bought the stupid toy for 20 bucks, plus 17 shipping and handling, with a grand total of THIRTY SEVEN DANG BUCKS. That was a pretty expensive throw. Don't think I'll be chunking Corgan's toys across the room anymore, regardless of how annoying they are. Corgan has loved this toy since he was a tiny baby, as you can see from the pics below. He was only two weeks old when this was taken and he has loved "E E" ever since!!!

Well, my first official classes I instructed today went really well! The first class I taught had about ten people in it and then the next class had about 30 people in it. It was so much fun! Hopefully I can get my own class to teach instead of just subbing.
Anyway, I'm fried. I was so nervous about this class that I haven't been sleeping well and have been practicing a lot. It takes a lot out of you! Hopefully Corgan will go to sleep soon. Good night!

Baby Blessing....
My brother Michael with sweet Emily. Isn't he handsome?!
Corgan flirting with danger. Chloe doesn't play well with others....
My nephew Carter practicing for becoming a big brother. Only a few more weeks until Eric gets here, Carter!
My mom trying to take a pic with her brood. Didn't go too well! Emily was very ticked, Carter was off and running, Corgan wouldn't look at the camera... Nick sure is handsome, though!
This is Emily's best friend and next door neighbor Elizabeth. She was born two days before Emily and is also a precious little girl! Travis, Corgan and I went to my sister's baby Emily's blessing today. It was such a nice blessing. She is such a special little girl and has some really awesome parents! We were all really pooped today since Travis and I didn't get to bed until late, late, late and got up early, early, early!!! Corgan woke up at around 4:30 and I was up with him for a bit. So, I think I got about three and a half hours of sleep last night! Nothing a Rock Star Energy drink can't fix! I LOVE those!
After Sacrament meeting the whole family went to Rob and Chrissy's for lunch. We had a lot of fun. I have an awesome family!!!! At around 1:30 we made our way home and took a THREE hour family nap. It was beautiful. Sigh.... I think I like sleeping too much!
We just took it easy for the rest of the day, playing outside with Corgan and I've been practicing my routine for tomorrow. I'm really excited!!!!!!!
Earning his keep!!!

Corgan was trying to earn his keep today by vaccuuming the floors. He missed a couple of spots, but I guess that's ok. ;)
Today was a pretty lazy Saturday. We went to Walmart, took a family nap (THREE HOURS!!!!), I cleaned house and practiced my routine for Monday. Travis is so funny. Whenever I get on a cleaning kick, he always asks "Who's coming over?" Like I don't clean unless we have company coming over. Sheesh.
Tomorrow is Emily's blessing. We have to get up at the butt crack of dawn to drive to freakin Saginaw and get to Sacrament Meeting by 9:00 in the morning. Makes me tired to think of it. I'm hardly ever even up at 9:00, let alone ready for church! I really hope we make it on time!!!!!

Working woman....

Corgan had this little superman curl thing going on yesterday....

I worked at my dad's clinic this Thursday and Friday. I love working for my dad! He's a great boss. My mom watches Corgan while I'm at work which is wonderful. He absolutely loves her. When we walked in my parent's house yesterday morning he said, "NANA!!!" and ran up to Mom to give her a big hug. He's such a sweetie! Looks like I'll be working a lot in Paris this month. A bunch of people are going on vacation and I'll need to help out. Goodness knows we need the money!!
I'm going to girl's camp on Wednesday and coming home Friday morning. I am so dang nervous about leaving Corgan for TWO NIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mom is coming to take care of him while Travis is at work, so I know he's in good hands and he'll be fine, but I'm nervous about ME! A couple of months ago when they asked if I could go to camp, I was like, "Sure!" But now.... I'm DREADING it. We'll see how it goes!

Handy Woman!!!!
Well, I must say I am ever so pleased with myself. I single handedly installed lights under our cabinets in the kitchen! This may be minor to most, but to me, it is a great accomplishment. I'm finding that I really, really enjoy home improvement! I've found a great site www.be-jane.com and am making a long list of projects to tackle. We went to Home Depot the other day to buy a drill and I tell you what, I was getting a little bit too excited about the power tools. It's no wonder they are called "power" tools! I love it! Anyway, next I'm going to do something about the retro paneling in our den. I may need a new tool....
Now for Corgan news! He went to the audiologist for a hearing test and did very well! He hears perfectly with his hearing aids in and his hearing has not changed at all. We are optimistic that his hearing won't get any worse. I absolutely adore his audiologist. She is such a sweetie.
Oh! A couple of new things Corgan has done:
-Signs book. He loves to be read to and will read to us. His favorite book to read to us is Goldilocks. He does a really deep voice and points to the Papa Bear. What a nut.
-Travis taught him to point his fingers and say "Duuuude!" Cracks me up!
-He went to his first movie in the theater this past weekend! We went as a family to see "Over the Hedge." Cute, cute pic. Corgan didn't fuss or anything, just sat mesmerized during the whole movie! He started jabbering a bit, but didn't get loud or anything.
We have speech therapy tomorrow, followed by Gymboree, followed by ECI. Whew. That's all before noon! I think we're both going to need a nap!

Holy Crap.
Well, I made a huge mistake today. I watched a talk show (first mistake....) that focused on teen girls' "secret lives" and it scared the CRAP outta me. These girls looked like every day, All American, sweet girls that I would let babysit Corgan and they were hooked on major drugs, "pharming" (which is buying over the counter drugs like Nyquil and getting high on them), have multiple (like 40) sex partners, experimenting with bisexuality, posting nude pictures of themselves on the internet, you name it, these girls did it. The sad, sad thing is, the mothers had NO CLUE any of this was going on. Their daughters were getting high when they were TWELVE and they had no freakin clue. Where were the parents?! One of the most consistent things was the girls came from either single parent homes or both parents worked. The parents just weren't involved in their daughter's lives.
My ten year plan used to be to start going to school when my kid(s) were in school, become an RN and work full time. This show got me to thinking. What the heck would I do with my kid(s) when school was out? What about after school? How was I going to be actively involved in their lives? I've decided that my full time job is being a mommy. I want to be there on field trips to the zoo. I want to be a room mother. I want to bake cookies for bake sales and be there for the kid(s) when school is out for the day. How can I do that if I am focusing on a career and making more money?
I still plan to go to school and get my degree, and who knows, maybe eventually I'll work outside the home part time. Who knows. But my first priority is raising my children.
The show also made me realize that kids need a solid foundation to build from. I talked to Travis and we are going to start having family prayer before Corgan goes to bed every night. We are going to continue with Family Home Evening, going to church and are going to start reading the scriptures as a family. Fifteen years down the road I don't want Corgan to be sitting on a couch across from some talk show host, saying his mother was never there for him.
Anyway, I'll get off my soap box. My next blog will be more uplifting. Just had to get this off my chest.....

Wonderful Husband!!!
I have to have one of the most wonderful husbands! Yesterday I was sick as a dog, barfing my guts up (pleasant picture, I'm sure) and Travis stayed home from work to watch Corgan and take care of me. He was fantastic! He let me rest and really took care of me. I think I had food poisoning from some chicken I ate because I feel about a million times better today. Sometimes it takes feeling really really horrible to realize just how great you truly do feel every day.
Today I've been taking it easy. Corgan and I have just hung out this morning, reading books and playing with toys. He's down for a nap now, so I think I'll try and get some rest, too. TTFN!

Good Weekend...
We had a good weekend! I worked in Paris on Thursday and half day Friday, getting home around 6:30 Friday evening. Saturday my parents came down and we went to Michael Tom's 40th birthday party. His whole family was there and Michael made chicken fajitas... mmmm.... Anyways, it was fun. Corgan danced to the music that was playing and ran around with the Michael's dog's pink princess purse. What a goob.

My parents spent the night on Saturday and Corgan would NOT go to sleep. I think he got a hold of someone's Mountain Dew because he didn't get to sleep until 1:30 in the freakin morning. We had to wake him up Sunday morning at 11:30. I think he would have slept in until after noon. Lazy butt.
We had lunch with my parents and the Michaels and just had a nice quiet Sunday. I took a much needed and deserved nap, and then we attacked the garage. I can now park in the garage!!! Woo hoo! Seriously, this is a big deal. It's been SIX months since we've lived here and have had the garage crammed full of all of our crap. Summer is fast approaching and I don't want to put Corgan into a hot car, so having a garage was essential!!!!
Today Corgan and I read books, played with cars, played outside and ran errands. He did so well today with his hearing aides! I was so pleased with him! He wore them for about seven hours total today, which is really phenomenal for him! Tomorrow is ECI day, with Chelle coming to work with him developmentally, Abbey coming to do speech therapy, and Diane as the parent advisor. Should be a full day!

Tomorrow is ECI day, with Chelle coming to work with him developmentally, Abbey coming to do speech therapy, and Diane as the parent advisor. Should be a full day!

Let's catch up!
It's been a few days since I wrote in my blog., so I have a bit of catching up to do! Life is great! Corgan has a couple of new tihngs on his list of accomplishments....
1. Tantrums. Boy did he have a doozy last night! I was in Paris working for my dad and was gone all day at the clinic. Corgan stayed home with Nana, which he loved, but after dinner Mom and I went to Walmart and left him home with Grandpa. Boy was he ticked that I left. Dad said he was grumpy the whole time we were gone. When I got home, he started crying and really got himself worked up to the point where he flung himself into a door and head butted me, busting my lip. Not good. We're going to have to nip that in the bud. My mom took him from me because she could tell I was pretty much at the end of my rope and he calmed down after a few minutes. Mind you, this whole thing lasted a bit over an hour. Oh boy. Is this what I have to look forward to?!
2. He points to his eyes and nose now and names them! Too cute!!!!
3. He LOVE LOVE LOVES to say, "uh oh".
4. He has this really cute angry face (I think he got it from me) where he draws his eyebrows together. Dang cute.
5. He shrugs his shoulders like, "I dunno."
6. He's cuter today than he was yesterday and I'm guessing he'll be even cuter tomorrow....

I really love being a mom. Some days are pretty crappy, but you just roll with it. They grow up too fast....

Something was screwy with my blog so I missed a couple of days.... It wouldn't publish what I'd written and was just all jacked up. But alas! Now we are back in business! I'll get back up to speed...

"Lookatthecar"

Boy I heard "Lookatthecar" about a bajillion times today. That is Corgan's favorite phrase. He is all boy. He just LOVES cars!!!
We had a crappy night last night. Corgan did not want to sleep for some reason. He was up every couple of hours. Wore us out. Thank heaven it was the weekend so Travis could help me out. He's such a great husband and father. He really tries to help out with Corgan whenever he can. Corgan's just crazy about his Daddy.
I went to the audition today and it went better than I had hoped!!! It was just Jenn Crutcher (the regional manager over aerobics classes) so it wasn't intimidating at all. I had imagined it being like cheerleading tryouts with five judges staring at you, making notes as you make a complete idiot of yourself.
Anyway, Jenn told me I didn't even have to go through the fifteen minute audition (all that practice for nuthin') and just wanted me to show her one exercise. It was so easy!!! She told me that she is totally comfortable with me having my own class if she had a slot available! She wants me to team teach a couple of times with my buddy Rita and then I'm off on my own! Woo hoo!!!!
This evening we went to Carvel and had some very yummy icecream. Corgan LOVES sprinkles and had them everywhere. Good thing I wasn't at home so I didn't have to clean up the mess ;)
Well, I'm off to workout and then go off to bed. We have church tomorrow and I am helping Travis with his lesson and then I'm teaching the young women. Fun, fun!!!
Friday Fun!!!

Corgan and I had a blast at the playgroup today!!! There were six moms including me there and seven kids. They had a bunch of fun playing in a new environment, checking out another set of toys. Marie was hosting and she has two kids, Dalton who's three (I think...) and Luke who is one. Her house is so dang cute and she is like Miss Do it Herself. She's motivated me to try to do some cosmetic remodeling myself. She claims it's "easy", but we shall see. It's worth a try and it would save a ton of money!!!

Anyway, we did the whole playgroup thing and then off to Wal-mart for a couple of groceries. Corgan wore his hearing aids for three hours staight! It was awesome! He is getting so much better with them! When we got home it was just getting ready to storm so we stayed indoors for the rest of the afternoon. Corgan and I took a two and a half hour nap that was bliss.... I love naps.
After his nap Corgan wore his hearing aids while watching Blue's Clues. A little while after Daddy came home, Corgan plucks out his hearing aids, hands them to me and says very clearly, "No more." I about fell out! Boy does he have a mind of his own!!! Wonder where he got that?
I've been practicing for my audition tomorrow. I'm auditioning to be an aerobics instructor. The regional manager already told me I was hired, but I just need to do the audition so she can make sure I'm comfortable with the format. I'm such a dork because I'm nervous about being nervous. Sheesh. We'll see how it goes!!!!!

Sweet Boy

Corgan and I met Nana, Aunt Chrissy and Baby Emily today in Grapevine. Emily is 3 weeks old and as sweet as can be. She looked so cute in her ladybug outfit! I got to hold her while she slept and boy did it feel good to have a teeny little baby to hold and kiss on! Corgan was so good with her! He kept kissing her on her little head and petting her hair. He was so sweet. When we left he kissed her goodbye! Made my heart melt. He is such a sweetie!!! He just keeps getting better and better.
Corgan fell asleep on the way home and slept until Daddy came home from work. Travis was great this evening.... He watched Corgan while I went out to play with my bud Liz. She has a thirteen month old cutie named Zach. We left our boys at home while we went to dinner and shopping. We had a ball. Now I'm beat. I was going to try and workout tonight since I ate pretty crappy this evening but I'm too dang tired. I think I'm going to watch CSI and crash.
Tomorrow Corgan and I are going to a playgroup at my friend Marie's house. It's a lot of the Gymboree moms. Should be fun! I'm going to throw my camera in my diaper bag right now so I'll remember to take lots of pics. Well, TTFN!
